Administrative Matters

2.1       E-Registration

In light of the COVID-19 situation, the Secondary 1 Registration is conducted online. You do not need to report to Ping Yi Secondary School on 23 December 2020.

Please complete the online registration form via this link https://form.gov.sg/5fc46c1ca5698b00110cf5c1. The online registration form will be open from 22 December 2020 9.00 a.m. to 24 December 2020 5.00 p.m. This is compulsory for all students posted to the school, including students who have intentions to transfer to another school.

Should parent and student need to come to school physically, please note that only one parent and one student will be allowed into the school premises.

2.2     Form Class Allocation

Ping Yi Secondary School is one of the pilot schools for Full Subject-Based Banding (FSBB). Under FSBB, students from the Express, Normal (Academic), and Normal (Technical) course will be in the same form class.

Additionally, students will study the following common curriculum subjects stated below together with their form classes.

·       Physical Education

·       Character and Citizenship Education

·       Design & Technology

·       Art

·       Food and Consumer Education

·       Music

An announcement on the form class that your child/ward is allocated to will be posted on Parents Gateway by 22 December 2020, 5pm. Alternatively, the Secondary 1 class lists will also be pasted on a noticeboard outside the staffroom on 23 December 2020. 

On the first day of school, student leaders will guide the Secondary 1 students to their respective classrooms or they can refer to the signage placed around the school.

2.3       Secondary  1 Orientation Programme (4th – 6th Jan) and CCA Showcase (8th Jan)

As part of Ping Yi’s character development programme and to ensure your child/ward has a smooth transition from primary to secondary education, the school will be organising a three-day Orientation Programme (4th to 6th January 2021). Please take note that the reporting time is 7.30 a.m. daily and the dismissal time and attire for Secondary 1 students for the Orientation Programme are as follows:

On 5 and 6 January, lunch will be provided for your child/ward.

There will also be CCA Showcase for students on 8 January 2021, 2.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. There will be lessons as per normal on 8 January morning.

2.4       Subject-Based Banding (SBB)- Applicable to eligible students only

Secondary 1 Normal (Academic) and Secondary 1 Normal (Technical) students are provided the opportunity to offer English, Mathematics, Science and Mother Tongue Languages at a more demanding level through Subject-Based Banding (SBB). Based on their respective PSLE subject grade, Normal (Academic) students may be offered to do relevant subject(s) at the Express level and Normal (Technical) students may be offered to do relevant subject(s) at the Normal (Academic) or Express level.   

Parents/Guardians whose child/ward are offered subject-based banding will be notified via Parents Gateway or phone call on 22 December 2020. Students and parents will need to attend a short briefing on 23 December 2020 9.00 am in the school hall (Level 2). Please note that only one student and one parent are allowed into the school premises and are subjected to Safe Management Measures (SMM).

Note:

·       Subject-Based Banding (SBB) students who have accepted the offer to take subjects at a more demanding level, please ensure that you make the correct purchase of books.

·       Students who have applied and are successful in the application for MOE Financial Assistance Scheme (MOE FAS) are to bring along your approval letter from your school. Please inform the General Office of your approval and obtain the form from the General Office before purchasing the books and uniform.

·       PE attire (House system) Please refer to the uniform vendor for assistance.
