P6 Students and Parents
Dear P6 Parents and P6 Students,
Welcome to Ping Yi Secondary School!
Established since 1984, Ping Yi Secondary School is a niche school in Design Education and we are well known for Restorative Practices, where character development and relationship building are key and students are encouraged to take responsibility for their actions.
In Ping Yi, our Year Head system allows a group of teachers to follow through with the holistic development of our students in their journey with us. The Homeroom system allows staff to set up mini learning centres, creating a conducive learning environment.
Ping Yi teachers are well known for their caring nature and go to great lengths to mould the character of students. Ping Yi has become a model for many schools in her Character Development, National Education and Design Education programmes. Outdoor Learning Centres, Indoor Sports Hall and Synthetic Field complements the state of the art school facilities.
Ping Yi’s progress in recent years
Our new campus was officially declared open in August 2007. In the same year, Ping Yi piloted and established the Homeroom, House and Year Head Systems. The school also achieved Sustained Achievement Award in Sports (2009) and Aesthetics (2010). One of the teachers, Mr Muhammad Rezal was awarded the Outstanding Youth in Education Award in 2009 while Mdm Lim Wei Ling was recognised with the National Caring Teacher Award in 2010.
The school was awarded Niche Status for Design Education in 2011. This is in recognition of the school’s efforts in providing authentic learning experiences that will allow students to meaningfully apply what they have learnt. The SYF Central Judging competition in 2011 also saw Ping Yi clinch three gold awards (Malay Dance, Indian Dance and Guzheng Ensemble), one silver award (Concert Band) and two bronze awards (Drama and Angklung). Mr Farizan Bin Mohd Amin, HOD for MTL was given national recognition and was awarded the prestigious Arif Budiman Award (Motivation). 2011 created another milestone in Ping Yi’s history.
