Direct School Admission (DSA)
The Direct School Admission (DSA) Exercise allows schools to offer places to suitable students in recognition of their achievements and talents other than their academic results achieved at National Examinations. Ping Yi Secondary School welcomes Primary 6 students who have the ability and potential to meet our listed criteria below to participate in the DSA Exercise.
Parents and students are encouraged to choose schools wisely based on the student’s aptitudes and strengths, bearing in mind the schools’ academic and non-academic requirements, and the programmes available to develop the area of talent.
1. DSA categories and criteria
- Applied Learning Programme: Design and Aeronautical Engineering
Selection Criteria
Students applying for the Design and Aeronautical Engineering should demonstrate strong interest and drive to excel in
Aeronautics and preferably possess a background in, or have prior participation
and performance in Science or Mathematics-related programmes, competitions or
activities. Students who are interested in design, robotics, flight and
aviation-related programmes may also apply. Students who possess any form
of school representation, participation, placement or award in the
above-mentioned areas should present their supporting documents.
- Learning for Life Programme: Leadership through Character and Citizenship Education
Selection Criteria
Students applying for the Leadership through Character and
Citizenship Education are expected to be exemplary
in their conduct. They should demonstrate a keen interest and passion in
community causes and in helping others either within the school and/or beyond
the school. They should preferably have experience in leading others to act for
the benefit of the community (e.g. leadership roles in primary school).
Students should preferably present any form of school/ community
representation, participation, placement or award in the above-mentioned areas
with supporting evidence.
2. Shortlisting criteria
Applicants who meet the selection criteria will be shortlisted for interviews to further ascertain their suitability for the DSA Programme. Shortlisted applicants need to attend an interview via video-conferencing. Local students will have this e-interview set up and conducted in their primary schools. In order to clear the interview, the candidate must demonstrate their abilities to satisfy the selection criteria (as stated in 1).

Interviews through video-conferencing will be conducted for short-listed applicants. |

Letters or emails will be sent out to all applicants on the outcome, namely Confirmed Offer (CO), Waiting List (WL) or Unsuccessful.

School Preference Submission
26 October 2020 to 30 October 2020
|
Students who receive at least one DSA-Sec offer (including from SOTA) will receive notification on the School Preference Submission in Oct 2020. Both parents are required to login to the DSA-Sec Portal using their SingPass to submit up to three school preferences. If parents are unable to submit online, they can approach their child’s primary school for assistance to submit the school preferences on their behalf.
